Photographic Composition
Besides learning how to capture a compelling story through questioning techniques and how to edit audio, the students are introduced to the basics of photographic composition. Accompanying their edited StoryCorps stories are photographs, found or taken, that capture the tone of their stories or the life of their storytellers. Students learn about simplicity, lines, framing, rule of thirds, balance and merger avoidance while considering lighting and color to capture the story in picture.
